History of Shiv Mandir

The Shiv Mandir has its roots in the early 1970's with a group of pujaris and pandits believing to create one of the landmarks for spirituality in Delhi.

The first Lord Shiva Shivling in the temple was placed by the Late Shri Narender Pandey, who laid the foundation of worship and spirituality in 1973.

The Building of the Temple

Considering the increasing significance of this spiritual site,

The government of Delhi decided to construct a new temple structure in 1983.

The initiative incarnated by the end of 1985 and resulted in a temple

astonishingly, designed as per Indian architecture with mesmerizing carvings that create a calming atmosphere saving you from all your worries.

A New Era of Inaugurations

The temple was greatly expanded in the peri-millennial era through Baba Nagpal Ji,

who installed new deities statues on January 29, 2001.

It consisted of Lord Shiva, Radha-Krishna, Shiv-Parvati, Ram Darbar, Maa Durga and Hanuman. Bringing with them a new and divine essence to the temple’s spiritual experience a longevity of these deities.

Culturally and Spiritually Celebrating

Shiv Mandir is not only the point where prayers are offered daily

but also an active heart of culture and spirituality. All the major Hindu festivals are celebrated at this temple with great fanfare.

The temple premises reverberate with the sound of Kirtan organized by Krishan Prem Trust every Sunday from 1 PM to 3:30 PM.

This time is open to all and offers an opportunity to experience depth sharing of song and music for the spirit.

Literary Contributions

The “Panchang Purv Darshika” is published annually by Shri Mohan Lal Chopra

who staunchly serves this temple community and contains information regarding some of the auspicious religious festivals in context with astrological events approaching in months to follow.

It has since become a staple laid out in the hands of devotees at the temple,

giving them reference points about faith dates and traditions observed by Hindus.
